1.  What did I do today?

 

I had to do some work for my funding summer project, I have finalized the literature review findings PowerPoint presentation and I have read more details about SPE 154370. 

 

2.  What did I find interesting/Work on? 

 

I tried to gather more information about surfactant simulation, what are the main issues regarding simulating surfactant injection.

According to SPE 154370, there are three main issues:

1.     Reservoir variables uncertainty: Most important characteristics are oil saturation, fracture properties and inter-well heterogeneity

2.     Lab data and up-scaling: relative permeability and capillary pressure data before and after surfactant injection, also surfactant adsorption in actual field conditions to model the surfactant propagation and retention.

3.     Selection of simulation model: Single-porosity model or dual-porosity model (dual-porosity model is probably not effective for surfactant injection models)

 

The figure below shows the surfactant model created and its parameters

 

 

3.  What will I do next? 

 

I will read SPE 200347-MS which is the same case field as SPE 154370 and compare between using CMG STARS (SPE 154370) and CMG GEM (SPE 200347-MS) to determine our best way to simulate new data for our models.

Also, in the next few days I will go over some CMG tutorials to get familiar with CMG STARS and CMG GEM and the best way to simulate a surfactant injection operation.
