1.  What did I do today?

Today, I attended several useful sessions and communicated with top leading companies in URTeC 22.

2.  What did I find interesting/Work on? 

1.     CMG representatives suggested for the water management project in the Permian basin it would be best if we used CMG IMEX instead of GEM because we are not interested in the compositional perspective.

2.     A technical session entitled “Understanding Water Cut Trends in Permian Basin Unconventional Reservoirs and Their Relationship to Development and Production Strategies”

o   The author did simulate several scenarios by changing the following parameters

o   The author concluded that the water cut increase is a normal outcome of reservoir depletion.

o   Also, the author used Delaware public data from IHS and used CMG IMEX.

3.     SPE 195239

-       This paper focuses on the Second Bone Spring formation in the Delaware Basin.

-       For rock characterization, they used tops and thickness maps generated from logs in IHS Petra and imported them into CMG Builder to give a shape to the reservoir.

-       These same logs were used to determine spatial properties (porosity), with Gaussian geostatistical simulation, as well as mechanical properties (Young's, Poissons).

-       A detailed core analysis, which defined the specific zone, rock type, and saturation, was performed and used to calibrate the model. mercury injection capillary pressure (MICP) analysis was the source of this information.

-       Three wells made up the data, which consisted of sample depth, porosity, permeability, relative permeability, capillary pressure, and pore throat diameter and distribution.

-       The Second Bone Spring model resulted in a 2 mile × 0.5 mile grid, comprising dimensions 75 × 35 × 8 with a variable thickness of 140-160 ft

3.  What will I do next? 

I will attend more informative sessions during the coming two days and I will try to engage more with the industry representatives in aspects related to the project
