Daily Update - Mohammad Elkady - (June-23-2022)
1. What did I do today?
Today, I managed to get access to Enverus database, and I read URTeC: 372024. Also, prepared a PowerPoint Presentation for next meeting.
2. What did I find interesting/Work on?
- URTeC: 372024 “Understanding Water Cut Trends in Permian Basin Unconventional Reservoirs and Their Relationship to Development and Production Strategies”
o The author used IMEX to simulate different scenarios
o The author focused on Delaware Basin
o He addressed the following
§ What will be the impact of increasing water cuts on overall recovery?
§ Where is the water coming from? Is there a nearby mobile aquifer?
§ Are we drilling and fracturing into wet zones? What can we do to mitigate it?
o Assumed that all fractures are symmetrical with infinite fracture conductivity, and each fracture produces at the same rate with the same drawdown. With this assumption, the well’s water cut is the same as a single fracture’s water cut.
o The author concluded In most of the areas studied, the increasing water cut trend did not have adverse effect on total oil recovery.
o Also, increasing water cut is normal for a volumetric solution drive reservoir (without pressure maintenance).
3. What will I do next?
I will keep collecting geologic parameters to build a realistic model for fractured Shale reservoir in the Delaware Basin
