Daily Update - Mohammad Elkady - (July-05-2022)
1. What did I do today?
Today, I attended the first day of a two-day online CMG course about IMEX and CMG workflows
2. What did I find interesting/Work on?
General Notes
- To access different manuals, go to CMG Documentation browser in launcher.
- Cloud CMG can run up to 32 processors
- Builder can read 2 types of geological data files: Contour maps and Mesh maps that includes x and y points and properties.
- You can modify the properties for a specific set of blocks by the Edit Reservoir Property Icon
- Sectors can be usefully to monitor a specific are of the reservoir.
- Types of blocks
○ Active (Contributes to the flow)
○ Null (Inactive)
○ Pinch (Inactive vertically)
- Dual Por
○ Flow from matrix to fracture and fracture to fracture
○ Each matrix is divided into submatrices (MIN)
○ For SUBDOMN the matrix is divided into layers
- Dual Perm
○ Flow from matrix to matrix and fracture to fracture and fracture to matrix
- Por = Por (i) EXP(Cr(P-Pref))
- For PVT you can use Winprop to match lab data and then import it to builder
○ Or if you do not have lab data, use Correlations
- Restart: make the simulator start from a specific time step (Not from the very beginning) to reduce the simulation time
- Make sure to check if you need your oil compressibility to be a function of pressure or not from the PVT table and then assign Undersaturated oil compressibility
- Define rock type for each rock layer!!!
- Rock compressibility has an effect on the reservoir pressure and water cut
- You can plot properties vs distance using the Profile tab in RESULTS
3. What will I do next?
Next, I will attend the second day of the course till the IT can solve the issue with CMG software
